Graduate of Swansboro High School

Graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Although I am a local of the area, after college graduation, I moved away and did not return for almost 20 years.  During this time, I traveled and taught in many different places.  First, I taught for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Bamberg, West Germany .  From there, I moved to Denver, Colorado and taught in an inner-city, magnet school.  Next, I headed to the west coast and taught in a private school outside of San Francisco, California.  I also was the school librarian for half of a school year.  From there, I traveled to Indiana where I started out as a substitute teacher, an assistant, then a teacher at an inner-city school in Indianapolis.  I finally returned "home" to North Carolina where I first taught at Dixon Elementary School.  Currently, I am in my eighth year at Sand Ridge Elementary where I hope to stay until I retire.

Although I was born in Wisconsin, I am proud to call North Carolina "home".  My family moved here when I was four years old.  My entire school career was in the Swansboro schools.  My youngest son is currently a seventh grader at Swansboro Middle School. I am true to my roots, when it comes to sports, as I am an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  I do not like cold weather though!  I love the beach and can not find anything more relaxing than sitting on the sand, listening to the ocean.
