I have taught at the elementary and middle school level.  This is my second year at Sand Ridge Elementary School and my third year teaching third grade.  I started teaching in 2001 and, being a military spouse, have taught in several different locations.  Early in my career, I taught at Tarawa Terrace on Lejeune. I have enjoyed some time with Department of Defense Schools in Okinawa, Japan.   I have been with Onslow County Schools for the past 6 years and I truly enjoy working with all of my students.

I received my bachelor's degree from Grove City College.  This is a small college close to where I grew up in Pennsylvania. There I double majored in International Business and Spanish.  I later returned to college at the University of North Carolina Watson School of Education Teaching Licensure Program to receive my Elementary Education teaching license.  After initially receiving my license, I taught for a short period of time then decided to spend some time at home with my three girls and my husband.  Being a military spouse, I was able to travel to many different countries including, Norway, France, Japan, China, Mongolia, Singapore and Thailand.  I really enjoy learning about the manners and mores in different geographic locations and can say that the interconnectedness of the people around the world amazes me.

I been a coach for Girls on Track and Girls on the Run for the past 9 seasons.  Working with the team after school really allows me to get to know more students from the school and their families.  I enjoy running/jogging long distance and spend many weekends running different races in the area.  I also belong to a book club and enjoy knitting although, teaching does not allow enough time for too many finished sweaters.
