I am so very excited to be here at Sand Ridge Elementary!  It has always been my goal to work in the community in which I live, so I could be an integral part of both the community and the school.  This is my second year here at Sand Ridge, and my third year working in Onslow County.  Before that, I lived and worked in Central New York, which is a beautiful place, being in the heart of the Finger Lakes and close to the cities of Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse, as well as being the International Headquarters for Corning Inc., (better known for making Pyrex bowls and plates) and NASCAR racing at Watkins Glen International.  In fact, my parents met while working summer jobs at The Glen (although long before it joined the NASCAR racing circuit).  This is my sixteenth year teaching; my first couple of years were spent as a middle and high school English teacher, but for the last ten, I have had the privilege of working with fifth graders.  Prior to that I worked in a bank as a Teller Manager in charge of a dozen tellers and a cash vault of a million dollars.  So, I can honestly tell the kids that I have in fact seen a million dollars!

When not working, I enjoy spending time at the beach, whether it be at the actual beach or riding my bike on the EI bike path.  I also love gardening and reading as well as hiking and travel.  In addition, I have been pursuing my love of Science by continuing to take classes in all different Scientific fields, but mainly in Marine Biology, which has always been a passion of mine.  When I was a kid I wanted to be a Marine Biologist until I realized I wasn't all that happy doing dissections.  Funny how that's changed-after all my years in the classroom and raising two adventurous boys of my own, I've seen enough bloody, scraped knees, elbows, and chins to cure me of my squeamishness.

I so look forward to getting to know you and your child.  Please feel free to contact me here at the school or via my school email with any questions or concerns you have.  It's going to be a great year in the third grade!
