My teaching career began in Virginia, and I have 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, having taught kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th grades.  From 2005-2007, I served as an assistant principal in VA for a PreK-5 elementary school.  Beginning in 2007, I accepted an administrative role as the district Instructional Coordinator for Language Arts, grades K-12 and served in that position until 2012, when my husband and I bought a house at the beautiful Crystal Coast of NC. Since moving to NC, I have been a Literacy Facilitator/Coach for Onslow County Schools.

Even though I was born in Granville County, NC, I grew up in rural, southside VA.  My parents and grandparents emphasized strong values and a love of family to me and my sister, and I carry that with me today.  After spending most of my career in VA as a teacher, assistant principal, and district coordinator, I am thankful to be living and working as a literacy coach in eastern NC where my husband and I plan to retire.  I have one son, who is a college senior, and I enjoy traveling back to VA to visit with him and other family members, whenever I can.  This is my fifth year as a literacy coach in Onslow County, and I divide my time between Sand Ridge Elementary and Bell Fork Elementary.  I look forward to working with the students and staff.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking on the beach, boating, collecting shells, and riding our Harley.
